Mitsubishi HC910 Projector Lamp Options

Mitsubishi projector lamps are available in a variety of brands. We have customers ask us frequently “is the original Mitsubishi lamp better?” This is the answer I give them that details the differences.

Original Projector Lamps”. Not Original equivalent but original complete VLT-HC910LP lamps.  Only one manufacturer can claim to be the original manufacturer. Only one. The bulb for the original Mitsubishi lamp is made by Ushio. The quality of these lamps is considered the standard for all others. They will, like all lamp manufacturers, have defective bulbs occasionally although it is a rare occurrence.

Generic projector lamps are copies of the original. Unlike the original lamp manufacturer there can be hundreds of manufacturers of generic lamps. The quality of these lamps can range from excellent to poor. We at allprojectorlamps.com supply only the highest quality and most tested generic lamps available. These lamps usually have the same or lightly better warranty then the original. The generic manufacturer is required to only meet the standard of the original manufacturer’s lamp, not exceed it.

Hybrid VLT-HC910LP lamps are made with the original Ushio bulb inside a generic manufacturers housing. The bulb is the key component of the lamp module. The housing is basically a lamp holder. When your projector gave you a warning that the lamp needed to be replaced, it was the bulb inside the module that was losing its effectiveness, not the housing. Some customers will reuse their old housing although we do not recommend that practice. By getting the original Ushio HC910 bulb in a generic lamp holder, you are getting the best of both worlds; the original manufacturer’ unquestionable quality and the generic manufacturers low cost.

The bottom line: The original manufacturer has spent more time and money developing and designing their lamp then the manufacturers that inevitably follow their footsteps. Although generics are just as good (in most cases) I consider the original Mitsubishi to be the standard. My advice is to buy the hybrid brand and get the benefits of both.
